GUARANTEE: Whittlesey Valley retrievers guarantees to the original owner that the pup will be capable of achieving the following health ratings and certifications within 28 months of age:
ADDITIONAL GUARANTEE: Whittlesey Valley Retrievers guarantees to the original owner that the pup will not be affected by Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM) throughout the life of the pup. The pup is not guaranteed to be CNM clear. The pup may be a CNM carrier. This guarantee only applies to pups that are affected by CNM. CONDITIONS OF GUARANTEE: Whittlesey Valley Retrievers Labradors and litters are registered with the AKC. All Whittlesey Valley Retriever puppies must be registered with AKC and the name "Whittlesey" must be included in your puppy's name on the AKC registration form. If this is not done, the health guarantee is void.
The buyer's licensed veterinarian must conduct a general puppy exam within five (5) days of pick up (unless the puppy was air shipped to the buyer). If the veterinarian finds the puppy unhealthy, contact Whittlesey Valley Retrievers within 24 hours of the veterinarian's exam. A refund will be given upon the return of the puppy and all paper work associated with the pup, along with a written statement from the attending veterinarian stating the dog’s condition. Hip X-rays must be performed after the dog reaches twenty-four (24) months of age and no later than twenty-eight (28) months of age by a licensed veterinarian according to OFA guidelines, and the radiographs must be submitted to OFA or the health guarantee is void. If the dog is a female, the hips must not be X-rayed thirty (30) days before or after her heat cycle or the health guarantee is void. Failure to achieve an OFA hip rating of EXCELLENT, GOOD, or FAIR will be determined only by OFA. Elbow X-rays must be performed after the dog reaches twenty-four (24) months of age and no later than twenty-eight (28) months of age by a licensed veterinarian according to OFA guidelines, and the radiographs must be submitted to OFA or the health guarantee is void. Failure to achieve an OFA elbow rating of NORMAL will be determined only by OFA. An eye exam must be performed by an ACVO certified veterinary ophthalmologist according to CERF standards before the dog reaches twenty-eight (28) months of age or the health guarantee is void. Failure to achieve CERF certification will be determined only by an ACVO licensed veterinary ophthalmologist. A CNM test must be performed by the Alfort School of Veterinary Medicine to determine if the puppy/dog is affected by CNM. The buyer is responsible for scheduling and costs for all veterinary services and applications for certifications. Reimbursement for Proof of Health Defects: Within 24 hours of receipt of notification that the pup/dog fails to achieve any of the aforementioned ratings or certifications, the buyer shall contact Whittlesey Valley Retrievers to notify them of the diagnosis, and all veterinary records, documents, receipts, pictures and X-rays shall be mailed to Whittlesey Valley Retrievers within 72 hours of receipt of the diagnosis. In the event the dog is diagnosed with hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, or a hereditary eye disorder, or CNM, Whittlesey Valley Retrievers will refund the original purchase price to the buyer. All shipping/transportation and veterinarian expenses are the responsibility of the buyer. All AKC registration paperwork must be returned with the pup/dog and ownership must be signed over to Whittlesey Valley Retrievers. If you would like to keep the dog, Whittlesey Valley Retrievers will refund the original purchase price minus the $300.00 deposit. The pup/dog must be spayed or neutered and you must provide proof of spay/neuter from a licensed veterinarian before a refund will be issued. All veterinary expenses are the responsibility of the buyer. All AKC registration paperwork must be returned and ownership signed over to Whittlesey Valley Retrievers. If this option is selected, and the buyer satisfies these conditions, the buyer shall maintain full responsibility for possession, care and liability for the pup/dog. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS: This guarantee will be void if: • The dog has been sold or transferred. • The dog has been used at stud, has been bred, or whelped a litter. • Proper nutrition, exercise & training were not provided by buyer. • Physical and/or mental abuse contributed to the development of hip and/or elbow dysplasia. (To be determined by seller's licensed veterinarian) Obesity, overwork, and improper nutrition are considered forms of physical and mental abuse. Costs for any surgery for health related problems, or any other medical expenses are not covered under this guarantee and are the responsibility of the buyer and shall not be covered in any way by Whittlesey Valley Retrievers. |
